Course Description

The purpose of this course is to build knowledge and awareness of the rights and responsibilities of NDIS participants, ensuring that both workers and participants understand their roles within the NDIS framework. It aims to safeguard the dignity, safety, and independence of participants while supporting providers to meet compliance requirements under the NDIS Practice Standards and the NDIS Code of Conduct. By completing this course, learners will gain the confidence to recognise, respect, and promote participant rights, while also understanding the responsibilities participants hold in maintaining safe, respectful, and effective service relationships. The course promotes empowerment, inclusion, and accountability as essential values of high-quality disability support.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

Define the rights of NDIS participants in line with human rights and legislative principles.
Explain the responsibilities of participants and how these contribute to safe, respectful, and effective services.
Apply knowledge of the NDIS Practice Standards and Code of Conduct to real-life scenarios.
Identify common risks to participant rights and implement strategies that promote safeguarding.
Demonstrate ways to embed participant rights and responsibilities into daily service delivery, including consent, privacy, and complaints processes.
Recognise the importance of continuous improvement, feedback, and safeguarding in building a respectful and inclusive service culture.
