Course Description

The purpose of this course is to provide an introductory understanding of the Australian health and community services environment.

It equips learners with the knowledge of sector structure, core values, ethical responsibilities, and compliance obligations.

By the end of this course, participants will be prepared to deliver safe, ethical, and person-centred support in alignment with the NDIS Practice Standards and Aged Care Quality Standards.

Course Outcomes

On successful completion of this course, learners will be able to:

  1. Describe the structure of the health, disability, and aged care sectors in Australia.
  2. Explain the rights and responsibilities of workers and participants under the NDIS Practice Standards.
  3. Demonstrate understanding of person-centred practice, dignity of risk, and inclusion principles.
  4. Identify the key duties and ethical obligations of workers, including boundaries and communication.
  5. Recognise the importance of creating safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive environments.
  6. Apply knowledge of escalation pathways for incidents, feedback, and complaints in line with compliance standards.
