This course provides learners with the essential knowledge and skills to manage waste safely, responsibly, and in line with workplace health, safety, and environmental requirements in the NDIS and individual support sectors. Effective waste management is critical to maintaining hygienic, safe, and sustainable environments for participants, workers, and the community.
The training covers the principles of safe waste handling, segregation, storage, transport, and disposal, with a focus on clinical, hazardous, and general waste generated in care and support settings. Learners will also explore environmentally sustainable practices and organizational procedures that reduce risks, protect health, and minimize environmental impact.
Understand different types of waste (general, clinical, hazardous, recyclable) and their risks.
Follow organisational waste management policies and procedures.
Apply safe manual handling and infection control practices during waste disposal.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Report and respond to waste-related hazards or incidents.
