Course Description

The purpose of this course is to provide NDIS workers, disability support staff, and allied professionals with the essential knowledge and skills to safely and confidently support participants who rely on ventilators. Ventilator care is a high-risk area requiring strict adherence to infection control, safety protocols, and compliance with NDIS Practice Standards.

The course is designed to equip workers with the ability to identify ventilator functions, respond to alarms, troubleshoot common issues, and maintain participant dignity during care. Beyond technical knowledge, the training also emphasises person-centred practice, ensuring that ventilator support is delivered in a way that respects individual preferences, cultural considerations, and overall wellbeing. By the end of the session, learners will understand not only the “how” of ventilator support, but also the “why,” reinforcing both safety and compassion in care delivery.
