Course Description

The purpose of this course is to equip learners with the knowledge, confidence, and practical strategies to support LGBTQIA+ participants in NDIS and aged or disability care settings. It highlights the importance of inclusion, dignity, and respect in everyday practice. By the end of the course, learners will understand how to use correct terminology, recognise and reduce risks of discrimination, apply inclusive procedures, and align their work with NDIS Practice Standards and Australian equality frameworks. This training ensures compliance and fosters a safe, supportive environment for all participants.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  1. Define and explain key LGBTQIA+ terms and identities in a respectful, accurate way.
  2. Identify risks and barriers faced by LGBTQIA+ participants in disability and aged care contexts.
  3. Apply inclusive communication and support strategies that affirm dignity and choice.
