The purpose of this training is to equip support workers and care staff with the knowledge and practical skills required for the safe and effective management of severe dysphagia.
Dysphagia is more than just “difficulty swallowing” in its severe form, it can lead to aspiration, pneumonia, malnutrition, and even death if not recognised and managed properly. By completing this course, learners will be able to identify risks, support participants with safe feeding techniques, and follow appropriate escalation pathways in line with NDIS Practice Standards.
Importantly, this course is not only about physical safety but also about maintaining dignity, independence, and quality of life for participants living with severe swallowing difficulties.
