Course Description

The purpose of this course is to provide learners with the knowledge and practical skills required to prevent, identify, and manage pressure injuries in disability and aged care environments. Pressure injuries are not only a serious health issue but also a compliance concern under NDIS and Australian clinical guidelines.

This course ensures that staff understand how pressure injuries develop, the factors that increase risk, and the procedures needed to prevent and treat them effectively. The training also highlights the importance of dignity, safety, and person-centred practice in every stage of care.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  1. Define pressure injuries and stages – Explain what pressure injuries are, describe their classification, and identify key warning signs.
  2. Identify risk factors and hazards – Recognise participant and environmental factors that increase the likelihood of pressure injuries.
  3. Apply safe prevention and treatment procedures – Implement effective repositioning, skin care, use of support surfaces, and early interventions.
  4. Align with NDIS Practice Standards and clinical guidelines – Demonstrate compliance with national care frameworks, organisational policies, and evidence-based practice
