Course Description

The purpose of this course is to equip disability support workers, aged care staff, and allied health professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to promote positive ageing among older people living with disabilities.

The course focuses on enhancing dignity, independence, and inclusion while ensuring compliance with NDIS Practice Standards, the NDIS Code of Conduct, and Australian care guidelines. Learners will gain strategies to support wellbeing, reduce risks to safety and participation, and apply evidence-based approaches to everyday practice. 

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  1. Define positive ageing in the context of disability support and explain its importance.
  2. Recognise risks to safety, wellbeing, and inclusion for older people with disabilities.
  3. Apply safe, respectful, and supportive procedures to daily practice.
  4. Align care delivery with NDIS Practice Standards, the NDIS Code of Conduct, and Australian guidelines.
  5. Foster inclusive practice that values independence, participation, and dignity of older participants.
  6. Demonstrate reflective practice to continually improve the quality of support provided.
