The purpose of this course is to equip learners with the knowledge, awareness, and practical skills required to assess and manage pain safely in disability and aged care environments. Pain is one of the most common and distressing symptoms faced by participants, yet it is frequently under-recognized or undertreated. Unmanaged pain can significantly reduce quality of life, increase risks of complications, and create compliance concerns under the NDIS Practice Standards and Aged Care Quality Standards.
This course provides a clear, evidence-based framework for identifying types of pain, recognizing associated risks, and applying both pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions. Learners will also explore workplace documentation, escalation procedures, and policy requirements to ensure safe, person-centered, and compliant care.
