Course / Course Details
The purpose of this course is to provide disability support workers and allied health staff with the knowledge and skills required to correctly monitor and report the use of regulated restrictive practices under the NDIS framework. It ensures that workers understand their responsibilities in safeguarding participant rights, maintaining compliance with NDIS Practice Standards, and applying best practice in documentation and reporting. This training reinforces a rights-based and least-restrictive approach while preparing staff to act ethically, legally, and professionally in challenging situations.
Define and identify restrictive practices and distinguish between regulated and non-regulated strategies under the NDIS framework.
Recognise the risks and impacts associated with restrictive practices, including physical, psychological, ethical, and legal considerations.
Monitor the use of restrictive practices in accordance with participant behaviour support plans, organisational policies, and NDIS Practice Standards.
Accurately report and document restrictive practice events, including both authorised and unauthorised uses, using workplace reporting systems.
Apply a rights-based approach by supporting participant dignity, minimising harm, and contributing to reducing reliance on restrictive practices.
