Course Description

The purpose of this course is to provide participants, support workers, and trainers with the knowledge and practical strategies required to develop essential daily living skills that enhance independence and quality of life. Life skills training goes beyond basic routines and empowers individuals to make choices, solve problems, and engage confidently in their communities.

The training emphasises person-centred approaches, ensuring that each learner can apply strategies to their unique circumstances. It also aligns with NDIS Practice Standards and Australian quality frameworks, ensuring compliance and best practice delivery in disability and community services.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  1. Define life skills and explain their relevance to independent living and participant empowerment.
  2. Recognise the risks and barriers faced by participants when life skills are underdeveloped, including risks of exclusion and dependence.
  3. Apply inclusive teaching strategies and safe procedures to support the development of daily living skills in areas such as personal care, budgeting, meal preparation, and community access.
  4. Align practice with NDIS Practice Standards, participant goals, and Australian guidelines, ensuring that life skills training is person-centred, respectful, and compliant.
  5. Demonstrate practical applications through case studies, role plays, and real-life demonstrations that translate learning into meaningful participant outcomes.
