The purpose of this course is to provide NDIS workers and staff with the ergonomic knowledge and safe work practices required to reduce the risk of workplace injuries and improve wellbeing. In disability and aged care environments, support tasks often involve physical effort, repetitive movements, or the use of specialised equipment, all of which can create risks if not managed safely.
By equipping staff with the right knowledge and skills, the course ensures they can work in a way that protects their health while also ensuring participants receive care that is safe, comfortable, and respectful. It also supports organisations in meeting their duty of care obligations and complying with NDIS Practice Standards and WHS legislation.
By the end of this course, learners will be able to define ergonomics and explain its importance in disability and community care workplaces. They will be able to identify risks and hazards linked to poor ergonomic practices and apply safe manual handling techniques, ergonomic procedures, and equipment use.
Learners will understand how to align their work practices with NDIS Practice Standards, WHS requirements, and organisational policies. Finally, participants will be prepared to contribute to a culture of safety and accountability, taking responsibility not only for their own wellbeing but also for the safety of colleagues and participants.
