Complex wound management is a critical skill for support workers and care staff who assist participants with high-intensity daily personal activities under the NDIS. This course introduces learners to the principles of skin integrity, wound prevention, and evidence-based wound care practices. It covers the recognition of different types of wounds, risk factors for skin breakdown, and the importance of following a registered nurse’s wound management care plan. Learners will also explore documentation requirements, infection control practices, and strategies for early escalation of concerns to prevent complications. By the end of the session, participants will understand their role in maintaining participant safety, dignity, and wellbeing through effective wound management.
